I imagine that it would be particularly useful to color-code the neighborhoods mapped--perhaps by the approximate date of gentrification--for further clarity. The inclusion of a key on the side of the map (similar to Wallace's) that would aid in users' specific selection of neighborhoods would also be preferable.
There are innumerable novels, short story collections, and poetry collections that touch upon the subject of gentrification and neighborhood evolution in Washington, D.C. as pertinent to this map. They include, but are not limited to:
- Wisdom Teeth by Derrick Weston Brown
- Drift by Alan King
- Lost in the City by Edward P. Jones
Of course, there is always the potential for this project to expand beyond the District. It could just as easily be done in any number of cities in the United States.
